75. Holidays in Besançon / Besançon, France

“Aprés le mur”, j´ai passé quelques jours de vacances a Besançon. J´ai rencontré là-bas de grands amis. On a pu se baigner dans la plage et manger des glaces tous les jours. Quand le soleil ne nous accompagnait pas, on profitait pour jouer dans la rue… au cache cache, 1 2 3 soleil, trap trap …ou bien faire des petites sotisses… comme celles qui suivent…

After the wall, I spent some holidays in Besançon. I met there such good friends. We were able to swim in the beach and eat ice cream every day. When the sun didn´t get out, we profit to play in the street … to hide and seek, cops and robbers, blind man’s buff … or make small ittle shits like these

1. AGRANDIR DE 5 cm LE PASSAGE PIÉTONS / ENLARGE 5 cm THE PEDESTRIAN CROSSING 5 cm

81. FIRE PLAN / POWER STATION MUSEUM, Shanghai, China

I had been invited to take part on SNACKS show in a big chinese museum, with some nice friends as Lolo, Sosaku and Boris Hoppek, amount others. I thought these should be a great opportunity to test some new experiments. JA JA JA !!!! [ villain laugh ]

01So I was wondering if it´s possible to paint a big mural and avoid spectacularization claws? It´s possible to get closer to life itself? On the street, it seems to be “easier”. Even if we live on a spectacle society that reach every shape around us, street (on its poetical meaning) get to keep its own freedom and scape from social spectacularization. Lovers, inmigrants, travelers, mad people, teenagers, artists, dreamers, outsiders,… interact in the street and make it an “autonomus zone” where everything can happend… So when I paint narrative images on the street, these images interact with life fading away from an art perspective. Even if these images could be captured in photos and submitted as art images on books and magazines, I feel that its interaction with pedestrians will be in life terms and not in spectacle terms. I mean… life is life.

03Iit´s possibe to produce life in the museum? How manage to make something inside without the limitation of art (spectacle)? My challenge was not to enter life in the museum (that will probably been immediatly neutralized because of the stage), but maybe the opposite: How to extract life from the museum itself? Museums are pervert machines that turn life on art, as theatres, as medias…. But museum itself, as a machine, is not art. It´s just a tool, a stage, an intermediary, just the mechanism to build spectacle. Lets try to make advantage from limitations, trying to erase frontiers between life and spectacle.

07So I found this little Fire PLan that was posted on every little corner in the museum. I don´t understand exactly what it says, but surely something really interesting that would be necesary to know in case of fire. Lets reproduce it bigger to make the museum a safer place. Just in case!

05“Fire plan” try to work on those points. Searching references from the museum itself to paint a big mural, playing the limits between what is and what isn´t. What is an exibition and what isn´t an exibition? Where are the limits between the stage and the representation? Where are the limits between life and art. Put on the stage a detail from the own stage, as show on a film the cameras with which the film have been recorded. “Signalize the stage up on the stage” is a test to “sterilize” the museum itself and extract life from him. A test that, as supposed, have been a failure, a big funny nice failure.

GREETINGS FROM MOLOTOV / Perm, Rusia

00 After 6 years, I finally get convinced to prepare a solo show. PERMM Museum of Contemporary Art invites me to prepare an exhibition in the 3rd floor of the building. The show opened the 1st October and can be visited till the 15th November.

01b“Greetings from Molotov” seeks to influence the space for dialogue that arises between the visitor’s curiosity and permeability of uncharted territory. It is the encounter with the other that always establishes this negotiation.

The shoes fall part as they continue walking on the path. It is the same condition for human beings in our digestive process; swallow, assimilate, digest, and throw away.

01a01cFrom a more poetic perspective “Greetings from Molotov” highlights the need to open doors, build pathways, open spaces to enable accessibility, invent bridges and relationships; formal and conceptual. Claiming intuition and improvisation. Flee linear logic and reasoning. Tear down the establishment and find a new order and meaning . Questioning all and surprised by the magic of error. To face contradiction as a space for transit. Banish the arrogance of conclusions and coordinates.

01d“Greetings from Molotov” tell the experience of exchange that we had in the process to prepare the show. You don’t understand? Don´t worry. Me neither.

02aThe exhibition presents a big installation composed by tables with graphic installations + little installations in dialogue with the tables.

2c 2dTo be honest, we just make fun with everything we found, so, other than put drawings on tables, we tried a lot of little stupid things as…

1. HIDE MONEY INTO MUSEUM WALLS 04b.esconder dinero04a.esconder dinero/ We hide some bills in the wall of the exhibition space to increase the price of the building. Gentrification is great! JAJAJAJA! (sounds like evil laughter)

2. SECURITY CHAIR05.security chair/ We put a lock in the security chair, just to be sure that no one still it. The security chair should be safe….we thougt!

3. PING / PONG06a/ Perm is a región that divides the East from the West in Rusia, but also Occident from Orient, but also Europe from China. At the same time, Perm región is considered as one from the hottest spots in the earth to see UFOs. So, we can also understand that this región divides earth form other possible worlds. A sort of big and complex intersection.06b/ Last year, a big hole appeared in Perm región and it continues to grow wider and deeper. Causes are not officially revealed, but seems strange that this big hole appear on this big intersection that’s Perm region.06c/ A big drama that government try to cover on white snow and dark smoke. 06d

4/ ANARCHITECTURES07a/ -There are some leftover wood pieces from the tables in the trash.    -No! Don´t throw it. We can get a nice installation with it.

5/ SECRET AGENT MAN08a/ Secret drawing of a secret agent man. Please, don’t tell anybody that I told you this.

08bsecret agent man

6/ BROKEN DREAMS09a/ Beauty and decay on the border to nowhere. Approx. something as this. 09b

7/ BODY CULTURE10a/ A little exercise about body and walls and space and …whatever 10b

8/ DEGRADATION11a/ Empty alcohol bottles found on Perm streets inclined at the same degree at their alcohol range 11b 11c

9 / JACK DANIELS13/ We found this nice graffiti about the possibility to get some american whisky cheaper than usual. Great!

13e13a/ So we put a museum phone on the exhibition…13b… and we distribute some advertisements with this nice offer around some creepy areas on Perm.13c/ “For cheaper Jack Daniels bottles, please call to 245-35-76” 13d

10 / CHAIR-CHAIR12a

11/ LIFE IS ELSEWHERE

1414a/ A little hole in the wall of the museum to remember everybody that life is elsewhere.

14b

and finally… some photos from the opening.15a 15b 15c 15d 15e 15hSo many thanks to Fermin, Dasha, Nailya…and all the crew taht made this project happends. Viva Vodka!

“Cars are now the Fallas. In the last two years 800 vehicles have been burned in Valencia by youth who claim to belong to the “anti-bourgeois movement.” A Chronicle reporter has managed to unravel the messages that these thugs, boys between 14 and 17 from upper middle class, chat on the Internet. Although they ensure that they only go for illegally parked cars, this is not true. Those involved belong to a group called Reasoning always Rules. They justify thei actions as “reasonable hooliganism” and communicate it online. Police have intercepted many of their messages, distinguished by their ideology and literary quality. “

199. Start Again

13.09

After a few months meditation, we start again with some changes in blog, structure and mind. Time goes fast and everything´s changing all around. Street is a nice place to play, but we are not totally agree on how the game´s coming, so lets try to push it with different rules.

It doesn´t matter if escif have blonde or dark hair; If it´s an artist, or a group of artists, or if it´s your mother´s hairdresser. The focus is on the direction to work on the street. We feel that a street intervention have sense not because there´s an artist behind, but because there is a viewer before.

Street isn´t an art gallery, nor a museum, nor a gift shop. Fortunately! Art tag is a frontier between a street intervention and the viewer. The market and the politicians monopolise street for its own benefit, against people. We have the oportunity to face this with a different language. We don´t feel on art just to promote ourself. We feel on art to propose a different use of públic space.

The meaning behind a street piece is the meaning that the viewer build around it. The artist explanation doesn´t matter at all. A big dick in a bridge in front of the KGB building is a big dick in a bridge in front of the KGB building. If the authors had explained that the real meaning of this piece was just the spring arrival, it doesn´t matter. For people who faced this piece it will continue being a big dick in front of the KGB building. Bravo!

We don´t want to promote any manifest, nor to convince nobody about our feelings. These are just words, full of contradictions and words, mostly,  are blown with the wind.

So, lets try with images!

Start again…
